Who is Blyott?

Blyott is a real time location-based tracking and monitoring company that provides IoT solutions to organizations across the globe. It started as a solution focused on the healthcare sector (hospitals, nursing homes, …) but can of course also be used in many other sectors. Since Blyott give you a real-time overview of all your mobile assets using the latest Bluetooth tags and existing Wi-Fi access points.

Blyott’s slogan is “Big Savings – Happy Staff.” The simple and cost-effective localization of (medical) devices such as blood pressure monitors, refrigerator temperature monitors, and patches for recording heart beats, etc. through a simple app on the smartphone that relieves the caregiver of unnecessary search actions. So with Blyott, you dramatically improve your efficiency since indoor localization in combination with “Big Data” analytics help customers understand certain flows and solve bottlenecks. In hospitals staff can now see, in real-time, where thousands of assets are located in the hospital. Besides accurate and reliable real-time location system Blyott also provides also monitoring, how much an asset is used, and if maybe maintenance is needed.

What solutions does Blyott offer?

Blyott’s solution uses the existing Wi-Fi Access Points (if suitable) and is a complete cloud solution that scales and seamlessly integrates with other systems through an open API including of course the asset registration application.

Indoor localization is nothing new, but not widely implemented due to high cost and complexity. Every hospital uses in fact a lot of medical- and non-medical devices. But sometimes medical or non-medical staff can’t find these devices, so a lot of time is spent. Hospitals buy 10 to 20% more mobile equipment than they actually need in order to operate properly.

An effective asset tracking system can reduce these costs dramatically. So, a good and simple solution to counter the asset tracking problem was needed. Blyott uses the newest Bluetooth technology: small, inexpensive Bluetooth tags (or even Bluetooth tag sticker) which have a long battery life. Together with the easy-to-use web interface, you can monitor and track where each piece of equipment is in real-time!

Now, when the medical staff is looking for a particular medical device, e.g. medical equipment like beds, monitors and pumps… with Blyott you can now use any computer in the hospital and go to the Blyott web application to search for a particular device. Next, they will have a list of all the devices that correspond the description and where they are located. This way they save a tremendous amount of time. Time that now can be spent to patient care.

How does it work?

The principle is simple: first you attach a Bluetooth tag to an object that you want to track. Then you use the Blyott mobile application to link this asset to the tag. In order to register you scan this Bluetooth tag with a name in order to link the two together. From that moment on the Blyott RTLS system knows that the tag and the asset belong together

Blyott developed a cloud solution that is picking up all those signals send out by these little Bluetooth tags and picked up by the Wi-Fi access points to calculate the exact position of the asset in the hospital. Through the existing Access Points (if suitable) the beacons are received and sent to Blyott. This way, you can quickly and easily find the Bluetooth tag’s current location.

Since Blyott application runs in the cloud, you have minimum of IT overhead and the necessary performance and scalability.
