A weekend full of mystery, teamwork and fun

A weekend full of mystery, teamwork and fun

This year’s Kappa Data weekend took us to Kluisbergen, where one thing quickly became clear: someone had committed a murder… Luckily, only a fictional one! Throughout the weekend, colleagues became detectives, gathering clues hidden in every activity to uncover the victim, the murderer, the crime scene and the murder weapon.

The investigation kicked off shortly after everyone arrived. Divided into teams, participants had to crack secret codes and solve a series of puzzles to unlock a mysterious box. It wasn’t an easy challenge, but every team eventually managed to crack the case and earn their first clues.

Once the detective work was over for the day, it was time to enjoy the evening together. Rafael Lepoutre’s birthday gave us another reason to celebrate, while one rather unusual object stole the spotlight: an oversized spoon that somehow became the drinking utensil of choice for several colleagues. It may not have helped solve the mystery, but it certainly gave everyone a good laugh.

Saturday morning offered something for every taste. While one group explored the beautiful surroundings of Kluisbergen by bike, the other stayed behind to unleash their creativity during a ceramic painting workshop. Both activities provided plenty of fun and, of course, a few extra clues for our detectives.

After returning to the house, everyone gathered around a delicious barbecue before cooling off in the swimming pool and enjoying a relaxing afternoon together.

As night fell, the investigation entered its final phase. Teams were dropped off at an unknown location and had to find their way back while searching for new clues along the route. Teamwork, observation and a bit of detective instinct proved essential as the pieces of the puzzle slowly fell into place.

On Sunday morning, after one final breakfast together, we headed to vineyard ‘t Varent in Horebeke for a guided visit. It was the perfect opportunity to relax, enjoy the beautiful surroundings and reflect on another fantastic Kappa Data weekend.

By the end of the weekend, the mystery had finally been solved. The guilty party? Melanie. The victim? Gydon. The murder weapon? A lanyard. The crime scene? Patrick Casteels’ office. Kim had witnessed the entire event, making her the key eyewitness in our fictional investigation.

From puzzles and outdoor adventures to great food, plenty of laughs and an original murder mystery that kept everyone guessing until the very end, this year’s Kappa Data weekend was another unforgettable edition. We can’t wait to see what adventure awaits us next year!
