Kappa Data Weekend 2025

A Squid-tastic weekend with the Kappa Data Team

For the Kappa Data weekend of 2025, we headed to Kuurne for an unforgettable Squid Game-themed experience! Upon arrival, our colleagues were welcomed at the gate by masked figures with Nerf guns. Whoever had forgotten their official Kappa Data workout gear were immediately hit with a load of darts. The tone was set!

The first challenge of the weekend was an escape box. Teams had to crack the secret pirate code to open a treasure chest. It was no easy task, but everyone eventually managed to solve the puzzles. The fastest team won a special benefit card, which came in handy later.

Then we played “Red Light, Green Light,” known from the Squid Game series. Those who made it to the finish line were allowed to find an envelope with their name on it. Inside was a symbol, such as a star or an umbrella, that corresponded to a symbol on the doors of the house. Like this, everyone discovered in an original way where they would sleep.

After a brief exploration of the cottage and unpacking our luggage, it was time for dinner. We enjoyed delicious spaghetti from Kastart, after which the evening continued with karaoke, swimming and lots of chatting until late.

Saturday morning we started fresh with breakfast, followed by a walk or a relaxing yoga session with Sofie—an ideal start to the day. After a quick lunch, we left for Kluisbergen for a 2PK rally through the beautiful Flemish Ardennes. In colorful old-timers, we drove along scenic roads and were given all kinds of crazy assignments and questions along the way. One of the challenges? Driving between two eggs without hitting them—much harder than it looks, but incredibly funny. Congratulations to the winners: Patrick C., Cédric, Katrien P. and Rosalie!

Back at the house, we immediately began to prepare for the barbecue. Despite wind and rain, Patrick and Koert conjured up a delicious meal, which we all enjoyed together. Meanwhile, the party committee secretly prepared a dropping. In groups we followed a mapped out course with tasks and had to take pictures along the way-with some hilarious results as a result.

The evening ended with a pleasant relaxation in the jacuzzi, sauna, swimming pool or just at the bar. A perfect ending to a great day!

Sunday began with one last breakfast, after which we tidied up the house and packed everything up. Part of the group left for home, but a smaller group went to visit the brewery of Omer Vander Ghinste. There we got an extensive tour and a beer tasting with several delicious beers. A tasty end to a great weekend!

This year we added a fun extra: a Kappa Friends Book, in which everyone had a photo and answered some lighthearted questions about their “friendship” with Kappa Data. What’s in it we’ll keep secret for now.

Does this sound like something for you? Then make sure to take a look at our job openings at kappadata.be. Who knows, maybe next year you’ll be racing in a 2PK, or dodging the Nerf darts with us!
