Because attackers often target outdated hardware. To address this, Sophos is updating its compliance policies to ensure all systems are equipped with the latest hardware and software.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h3>New Licensing Procedure Starting February 2025<\/h3>\n<p>Starting February 2025, Sophos will implement a new license compliance process across all products to enhance customer security. Expired or non-compliant products increase vulnerability to attacks, Sophos is introducing functionality changes to alert customers and prompt urgent action. Customers with expired support contracts must renew their licenses to maintain access to customer support and ensure continuous protection. As a result the Sophos Enhanced Support license will become even more important in the future as Sophos removes more features from the\u00a0basic license[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h3>Changes for XG hardware customers<\/h3>\n<p>Starting February 24, 2025, customers with XG hardware without active subscriptions or support contracts will face these changes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ol>\n<li><strong>WAN-facing portals turned off <\/strong>\u2013 WebAdmin and User Portal only.<\/li>\n<li><strong>On-Box reporting deactivated <\/strong>\u2013 No Local reporting and analysis.<\/li>\n<li><strong>WebAdmin pop-ups <\/strong>\u2013 Risk acceptation and confirmation for outdated devices.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Weekly EOL emails <\/strong>\u2013 Reminders about hardware End-of-Life.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These changes should help ensure end user and <a href=\"https:\/\/partners.sophos.com\/prm\/English\/c\/sophos-firewall-license-compliance-2025\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">partners<\/a> awareness that they use outdated hardware.[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=&#8221;26949&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221; css=&#8221;&#8221; qode_css_animation=&#8221;&#8221;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h3>Changes for all Sophos Firewall customers running SFOS<\/h3>\n<p>Starting March 28, 2025, the following changes apply to all <a href=\"https:\/\/community.sophos.com\/sophos-xg-firewall\/b\/blog\/posts\/sophos-firewall-license-compliance-changes-in-2025\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sophos Firewall customers<\/a>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Central Management &amp; Reporting will stop<\/strong>\u2013 Requires a valid subscription or support contract.<\/li>\n<li><strong>No Technical support <\/strong>\u2013 No RMA, phone support, or firmware updates without an active support contract (except for the first three updates).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>RMAs will still be honoured within the first year due to legal warranty requirements.[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=&#8221;26952&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221; css=&#8221;&#8221; qode_css_animation=&#8221;&#8221;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h3>Call to Action:<\/h3>\n<p>When the firewall license expires certain important functions such as Central Management and Reporting are no longer available. Also, technical support is no longer available.<\/p>\n<p>To ensure that the firewall remains optimally protected and functional, the following steps should be taken:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Renew subscriptions<\/strong>:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Check whether the firewall has an active subscription and a valid support (Sophos Enhanced Support) contract. Sophos Enhanced Support is part of the protection bundles Standard protection and Xstream protection.
